I think I can safely say that my weekend had no disasters. It's Monday, so I can't have any backdated disasters at this point. It was a weekend for staying in out of the cold and finishing projects. Projects like this beaded bag. It was way more work than I thought it would be, but it was worth it. I was standing in line at the market and the woman behind me noticed it and complimented me on it. Turns out she's a knitter too. I also finished this sock. I love this sock. I just hope I can manage to knit the other one, so I can actually have a pair of socks. I have a remarkably short attention span so I currently have six different socks, all in different yarns and patterns.

i knew the beaded bag was in the works, and was impressed, but you can do socks! you're officially amazing. this weekend we went to a children's museum and looked at mastadon skeletons, bubbles and dead bugs. i did not buy a stuffed toy fox. even tho' i really wanted to because he looked so real. i'm sad about that, but i'm starting to think you could *make* me a fox... hmmm...
Thanks! I used to think socks were too difficult, but I finally made some sense out of them. I can't manage to use all those double pointed needles. There are just too many and I was constantly using the wrong one.I read a couple of books on how to use two circular needles instead, and ended up finding some really good instructions online. If you decide to try it, I really recommend using the circular needles and get Charlene Schurch's book Sensational Knitted Socks. It was a big help. If you do choose to knit socks, just think of all the great yarn out there! I am endlessly amused by self patterning yarn, getting all excited about the next color coming up and watching the thing make it's own design...

What colors does the kit come in?
do-your-own-disaster kits come in colors like paroxysm pink and caution tape yellow. i think what alex is looking for comes in pacifying puce. although democrat blue might actually work better on him - but that would be for sale on HIS blog. not this one.
